Biography of Jamey Andreas, Guitarist
|
Jamey Andreas is a classical guitarist based in New York,
who has taught and played all styles of guitar for almost 30 years,
his specialty being the Classical Guitar. In that time, he has developed
teaching methods that are so effective and fundamental to all styles
and levels of players, he has called them "The Principles
of Correct Practice for Guitar". Through the use of these
principles, anyone can learn to play the guitar correctly, from
the beginning, so that bad habits and playing problems do not appear,
as they do for so many guitarists and would be guitarists.
The essence of Jameys approach is this: most people unknowingly
develop bad habits right from the beginning, because they dont
know how to practice in a way that prevents deadly muscle tension
from being locked in to the muscles during practice. Even if they
succeed in learning to play, problems will appear later on as they
try to become more advanced. Through the use of Correct Practice,
anyone can learn to play, and players can undo the damage done by
"wrong practice".
In addition to being a performer and composer, Jamey is dedicated
to helping other players become the guitarists they want to be,
by teaching them how to use "The Principles of Correct Practice
for Guitar".
